The School Readiness Program (SR) offers financial assistance to low-income families for early education and care so they can become financially self-sufficient, and their young children can be successful in school in the future. Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) is a free educational program that prepares 4-year-olds for success in kindergarten and beyond. Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) is a network that helps families identify and select quality childcare options that best meet their needs.

Florida adopted the Florida Early Learning and Development Standards Birth to Kindergarten in December 2017. Beginning with the 2022–23 school year, Florida’s statewide, standardized assessments in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics will be aligned with the Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.). The Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST), which includes VPK through grade 10 Reading and VPK through grade 8 Mathematics assessments, will be administered as a progress monitoring assessment, which students will participate in three times per year.
