The City of Delray Beach is thrilled to launch its Citizens' Academy! This interactive program is designed to give residents and business owners an in-depth look at how our city departments and employees work together to maintain a high quality of life in our beloved Village by the Sea.

This free program consists of five three-hour sessions, taking place every Friday evening, beginning at 6 p.m. The program culminates with a special Graduation Presentation during the Delray Beach City Commission Meeting in the City Hall Chambers. 

Join us for this unique opportunity to engage with your city, understand the intricacies of municipal operations, and become an informed and active member of our community. We look forward to seeing you there!

Registration for the Fall 2024 Class begins August 1st and closes September 3rd, 2024!

Session Breakdown

Session 1:

Location: Delray Beach Golf Course
      - Welcome by City Manager Terrance Moore
      - Meet leadership from the Public Works, Parks and Recreation, and Information Technology departments
      - Introduction to the Office of the City Clerk

Session 2:

Location: Swinton Operations Center (SOC)
  - Engage with leaders from Communications, Water Utilities, Parks and Recreation, Sustainability and Resilience departments
  - Learn how these departments impact our city's daily operations

Session 3:

Location: Fieldhouse at Old School Square
Highlights:
  - Insights from the City Attorney
  - Meet with leadership from Development Services and Neighborhood & Community Services departments

Session 4:

Location: Delray Beach Police and Fire Rescue Stations
Highlights:
  - Discover the inner workings of our public safety departments
  - Learn how you can contribute to community safety

Session 5:

Location: Delray Beach City Hall
Highlights:
  - Interact with leaders from Economic Development, Education, Human Resources, and Finance & Purchasing departments

Graduation Ceremony:

Participants who complete all sessions will be honored at a graduation presentation during the Delray Beach City Commission Meeting in the City Hall Chambers. Graduates will receive a certificate recognizing their commitment and new-found knowledge about city operations.

Registration Details

First-Come, First-Served. Registration is limited to 25 participants. To register please complete the Citizen's Academy Application.

Eligibility

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and either reside or own a business in the city. Proof Required: Age verification, and proof of residency, or business ownership, within city limits are necessary.

Transportation

Participants are responsible for their transportation to various locations.
