Clean Oceans and Sands Team
Trash, litter and marine debris affects beaches, coastal waterways, estuaries, and oceans globally. That's why the city of Delray Beach created C.O.A.S.T. , the Clean Oceans and Sands Team Beach Pail Program.
Now, you can do your part to help keep our local ecosystems healthy by picking up trash and litter found along our beaches and disposing of it properly. Beach pails are located at several beach access points in the City of Delray Beach.
To make a difference follow these simple steps:
- grab a pail
- pick up trash and litter you find while walking on the beach (big and small pieces!)
- dispose of it in the nearest trash can
- return the pail so others can help to keep our beaches clean, safe, and beautiful!
Sea Turtles and Sand Dunes
Please remember to watch where you are walking while picking up trash and litter. Walking on the dunes is prohibited because they are important, sensitive habitats. Also, during sea turtle nesting season (March 1-October 31st), please avoid marked nests.
Organized Beach Cleanups
Every year the City of Delray Beach takes part in International Coastal Cleanup events. Several organizations hold beach cleanups along our beaches throughout the year. Search online and follow the city's social media pages to see when the next event will be held! Until the next event, keep borrowing the COAST pails to make a difference with every visit to the beach!
