Assistant Chief
Assistant Chief Jeffrey Rasor began his law enforcement career with the Miami Police Department before coming to Delray Beach in May of 2002. As an officer, he created the Criminal Justice Academy at Atlantic Community High School. He was promoted to sergeant in 2009, a lieutenant in 2019, a captain in 2021, and an assistant chief in 2022. During his tenure with the Delray Beach Police Department, he has served in Community Patrol, Atlantic Community High School SRO, Clean & Safe Downtown Unit, Traffic Unit, Special Events Coordinator, Community Patrol Watch Commander, Commander of the Patrol Division, and the Operations Chief. During this time, he oversaw community patrol, a communications center, a records section, a volunteer program, a police facility, the Criminal Justice Academy at Atlantic High School, created a Criminal Justice Academy at Carver Middle School, a police explorer program, motor unit, traffic homicide unit, K-9-unit, SWAT, community-oriented policing unit, community service officers (traffic crash investigations), and the investigation division including vice, narcotics, persons, and property unit.
Assistant Chief Rasor is a graduate of Florida International University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Public Administration. He is also a graduate of Florida Atlantic University, where he earned a master’s degree in educational leadership. During his time at Delray Beach Police Department, he attended the University of Louisville Southern Police Institute, graduating from the 70th Command Officer’s Development Course, FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association (LEEDA), Leadership Delray, and PERF’s Senior Management Institute for Police – SMIP: Session 83.
Assistant Chief Rasor’s professional affiliations include the Delray Beach Kiwanis, FBI – LEEDA, International Association of Chiefs of Police - IACP, Police Executive Research Forum - PERF, Florida Police Chief’s Association, and the Palm Beach County Chief’s Association. Assistant Chief Rasor has also served on the Delray Beach Police Pension Board for the past seven years and held positions as chairman, vice chairman, and secretary. He has been a member of the Florida Public Pension Trustees Association since 2017 and completed the certification of the public pension trustee program in 2022.
