Lieutenant Gary Ferreri currently serves as the Commander over Special Investigations Division, which encompasses the Delray Beach Police Department’s VIN unit, TACT and Criminal Intelligence . He started his career with the Delray Beach Police Department in 2007 and has had a fulfilling and rewarding career since his inception. Lieutenant Ferreri has a passion for serving the Delray Beach Community and understands the most important role as a police officer is earning and maintaining the communities’ trust. Lieutenant Ferreri has served on the department’s Problem Orientated Policing Team, was assigned to the Clean and Safe Unit, to the Investigative Division where he investigated crimes against property, violent crimes and served on the Palm Beach County Auto Theft Task Force. In 2020, Lieutenant Ferreri also served as a sergeant in the Internal Affairs Unit, where he focused his efforts on conducting monthly compliance checks and investigating internal and external complaints. Also during his tenure, he served as a PBA Union President and worked as a liaison between labor and management and successfully helped negotiate three collective bargaining agreements. Lieutenant Ferreri has a passion for leading out of the box initiatives to keep police engaged with the community. He is often called upon by Chief Mager and past Chiefs to plan or assist with planning large scale community events such as National Night Out, employee appreciation days and other community/employee events. Lieutenant Ferreri has a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration from Florida Atlantic University, is a graduate of SMIP, and is currently working on a Master’s Degree in Employment Law and Human Resources/Risk Management at Florida State University.
