Starting October 1, 2024, the City of Delray Beach is launching a Civil Citation Program to encourage residents and visitors to follow local ordinances that help keep our city clean, safe, and enjoyable. This program focuses on educating the community and providing warnings before issuing fines for minor violations.

During October, warnings will be given. This grace period will help everyone understand the regulations and correct any behavior that may lead to a citation.

Beginning November 1, 2024, formal civil citations will be issued for continued or repeated violations. Fines may apply, depending on the severity of the infraction. The Civil Citation Program allows the community to address these issues responsibly while avoiding criminal charges.

Civil citations are non-criminal notices issued for minor violations of local rules, dogs on the beach, littering, trash and recycling issues, and excessive noise disturbances. Instead of leading to arrests or criminal records, these citations typically result in fines. Civil citations promote compliance with city regulations and encourage responsible behavior while providing an alternative to criminal charges. By using civil citations, cities like Delray Beach aim to educate the public and maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming community for everyone.

By enforcing these ordinances through civil citations, Delray Beach aims to maintain the high quality of life that makes our city a great place to live and visit. For more information about the program and specific regulations, contact the Code Enforcement Division.
