Rob Long grew up in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. He graduated from the Pennsylvania State University, with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Rob moved to Florida immediately after college to take a job as a field engineer with engineering firm, RS&H. While working, he decided to continue his education and earned his Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Florida.
Rob has lived in Delray Beach since 2010, and has worked full-time for several engineering firms, and most recently as Loss Prevention Engineer for AIG. He still consults part-time with several risk engineering firms to offer his expertise.
In 2018 he founded Door 2 Door Strategies, a grassroots community engagement organization focused on canvassing, data gathering, and petitioning efforts for a wide range of clients. Door 2 Door has worked on projects ranging from statewide ballot initiatives, registered underserved residents for Covid vaccinations, and polling residents and hosting community conversations to give communities a voice regarding changes in their neighborhoods.
Rob served 2-terms in the countywide elected role of Palm Beach Soil & Water Conservation District Supervisor and chaired the board for the last 4 years of his tenure. In that role, he helped to build the Ambassador to Everglades educational program for PBC high school students and led this District to become one of the top performing in the state in terms of water conservation. Rob was honored with an award for Public Service from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) in 2022.
Rob has also served on Delray Beach advisory boards for six consecutive years (2016-2022): the Green Implementation Advancement Board, the Site Plan Review & Appearance Board, and the Planning & Zoning Board.
Rob has also served on the Verona Woods HOA Board of Directors, Habitat Young Professionals Executive Committee, the Executive Board of the Friends of the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge, and the Board of Directors of the Greater Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce.
Rob is a graduate of the Palm Beach County New Leaders Council, the Anti-Defamation League Glass Leadership Institute, and Leadership Palm Beach County (Class of 2020.)
