The Parks and Recreation Department has had a partnership for the past twelve years with The Arc, a local agency that provides services for children and adults who are developmentally disabled. As per Federal law and the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), all children with special needs must be provided the opportunity to participate in mainstream activities, including after-school programs. The Arc's inclusion program provides training to staff in community child care centers with regard to disabilities and their characteristics, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and staff sensitivity training.
The Out of School Program is an employment opportunity to work with the children throughout the year. For more information please contact Tonya Smith at (561) 243-7250 extension 7159 or smithtc@mydelraybeach.com.
