Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Historic Train Station Renovation

The City of Delray Beach is proud to announce the grand reopening of its historic train station, following a comprehensive renovation and restoration project. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 10 a.m., at the Delray Beach Train Depot, at 80 Depot Avenue.

In 2020, the depot was nearly destroyed after firefighters spent hours battling a fire set by four teenagers, which is on the National Register of Historic Places since 1986.

Built in 1927 as part of the Seaboard Air Line Railroad, the train station has long been a beloved landmark in the community and has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1986. The depot, recognized for its Mediterranean Revival architecture, has undergone an extensive restoration to preserve its historical significance while revitalizing it for future generations. The train station will now be home to the city’s Health and Wellness Center and Human Resources Department.
