Postponed Due to Weather
The Public Works Department is holding a Public Information Meeting to discuss the Swinton Avenue and Atlantic Avenue Intersection Improvements project. The project limits are along Atlantic Avenue from NW 3rd Avenue heading east to N Railroad Avenue and along N/S Swinton Avenue from NW/NE 1st Street to SW/SE 1st Street.
The proposed improvements will:
✓ Ease traffic congestion at the subject intersection by encouraging vehicles approaching downtownfrom the west to turn right at SW 2nd Avenue or SW 1st Avenue for the downtown bypass route.
✓ Improve the existing intersections and pedestrian crossings with Atlantic Avenue at SW 2nd Avenue,NW/SW 1st Avenue and N/S Swinton Avenue.
✓ Introduce a new, safe and accessible midblock pedestrian crossing at Old School Square, on N.Swinton Avenue between Atlantic Avenue and NW/NE 1st Street.
✓ Improve safety for all road users.
The purpose of this meeting is to present the preferred alternative and receive public input. Project details will be available for public viewing and the project team will be available to answer questions. Questions and comments may be submitted throughout the project duration by emailing the City’s Project Manager or the Consultant Community Outreach Specialist.
