DBHS: Long Hot Summer of Movies - A River Runs Through It

Join the Delray Beach Historical Society for their 2nd Annual Long Hot Summer of Movies. They're going back through time to explore films that captured a significant time or events in our nations history through journalism. There will also be local Delray Beach headlines on display from archived newspapers this summer from this time period.

Movie information: One of the most moving stories of our time, winner of three Academy Awards, this 1992 film was directed by Robert Redford and stars Craig Sheffer, Brad Pitt, Tom Skerritt, Brenda Blethyn, and Emily Lloyd. Based on journalist and author Norman Maclean’s childhood experiences in the 1920’s, “A River Runs Through It” will captivate you with vivid and stunning depictions of life along Montana’s Big Blackfoot River and its near magical blend of fly fishing with the troubling affections of the heart. Themes explored include prohibition, racism, the Great Depression, religion, the love of language, life and growing up. Rated R.
