Utilities Director
Hassan Hadjimiry P.E. came to the City of Delray Beach in 2020 to serve as the Utilities Director. He has over 39 years of engineering and management experience in the water, wastewater, and reclaimed water utilities industries.
Prior to his appointment as Utilities Director for the City of Delray Beach in June 2020, Dir. Hadjimiry served as a Deputy Director for the Palm Beach County Water Utilities Department, the third largest water utilities in the State of Florida, serving over 585,000 citizens in unincorporated area of Palm Beach County with 590 employees. While with the County, he initiated and implemented aggressive and successful water resources projects such as Wakodahatchee and Green Cay Wetlands, systemwide cross connection control program and largest reclaimed water system in South Florida. Dir. Hadjimiry was named the David York Water Reuse Person of the Year in 2009 by the Florida Water Environment Association and in 2020 was named the Government Engineer of the Year for the State of Florida by the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Mr. Hadjimiry has been implementing a very effective management protocols to assist utilities staff in the stewardship of the City’s infrastructure, improve performance in critical areas, and respond to current and future challenges. He has established a successful, transparent, and effective alliance with local and state regulatory agencies, industry professionals, elected officials, customers, and other stakeholders.
